Playtech Case Study

Playtech develops unified software platforms and content for the online and land-based gaming industry, together with a range of ancillary services such as marketing, hosting and CRM services. The company’s business portfolio consists of the most prominent names in the business, including William Hill, Netplay, Betfred, Mansion, and Bet365.

The key factor that led Playtech to consider outsourcing was the lack of qualified resources in the countries where the company’s development centres are based – Estonia, Bulgaria, and Israel. Amongst numerous locations investigated, Ukraine, and specifically Kyiv, was the top choice because it is accessible from all the client’s locations, has 4.5 million people and a high volume of IT industry with thousands of highly-skilled people. For Playtech, finding a strategic development partner in Ukraine was the solution to a critical challenge.

Playtech’s team in Kyiv was built on the Extended Team model as a natural extension of the company’s business. The team was responsible for main product development, launching new projects, and development of existing products.

Playtech is fully in charge of the development process, with Kyiv specialists handling design and development, including architecture and technologies selection.

  • Playtech Extended Team was started in August, 2011. By the end of 2012, the company’s team in Kyiv totalled 200
  • The growth rate achieved was about 15 vacancies opened per month, and hiring of about the same number.

“Ciklum has a good level of professionalism and standards set within the company that make things work. They are indeed transparent to the core – be that involvement in the employee search or an invoice we receive for the services requested we know exactly what is going on.”
