The Challenge

As part of its digital distribution strategy, TUI France wanted to strengthen its mobile presence through an app. TUI Group had already chosen Flutter as the platform, with TUI France selected as the first market to prove it in delivery. While the strategic direction existed at Group level, the local capability to execute it had to be built from scratch.

Without the right foundation, every future mobile initiative would repeat the same setup cost, duplication, and complexity. The goal was bigger than shipping a first app. TUI France needed a partner to define the architecture, set the standard, and build a mobile foundation that could support growth from day one.

The Solution

Ciklum took ownership of the mobile foundation. Instead of delivering a one-off app, we built a custom Flutter framework designed to support TUI Group’s wider mobile strategy. The France app became the first live product built on that framework, proving the model in delivery, and creating a foundation that could be reused across future TUI markets.

How We Did It

We worked closely with the TUI France product team to define the right MVP scope for the first mobile application. The focus was not to build every possible feature from day one, but to create a strong first release that could support the planned launch.

TUI France had no mobile capability to build on. We introduced a cross-functional delivery model that brought product and engineering into a single, aligned team — focused on value delivery over feature volume. Stability and performance were set as the core release criteria for every build.

We removed setup friction at the framework level, cutting feature and project initialization from days or weeks to hours. The benefit grows with every new build.

The app was developed for both iOS and Android from a single Flutter codebase, allowing both platforms to be released at the same time. This helped reduce duplicated feature development and gave TUI France a more efficient way to maintain platform consistency from the start.

TUI France was planning a major marketing campaign around the app release, so production readiness had to be built in early. We introduced CI/CD pipelines, early performance testing, and security testing to ensure the app was ready for a live customer launch.

We built the framework to be replicated, not rebuilt. Core features, technical standards, and delivery foundations are packaged so any future TUI market can launch its own mobile product without starting from zero.
