The Spotlight is ON - What to Expect at ICE 2023

February 1st 2023
ICE is set to be bigger than ever before. From February 7-9th over 35,000 iGaming professionals and enthusiasts will be in London, immersed in the latest innovations set to hit the global gaming sector this year.

Ciklum will be there, and with a jam-packed agenda over the course of the three-day event, and exhibitors from more than 150 countries, there really will be insights to gain for every attendee.

We sat down with our Director of iGaming, Eriks Petersons, who has been attending ICE for over a decade, to hear his thoughts and insights on key things to look out for at this year’s event.

Global regulatory developments

ICE always presents a fantastic opportunity for attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the ever-evolving regulatory landscape by hearing first hand from some of the biggest policymakers and regulators in the sector on what changes are on the horizon.

Gaming regulation will be a central theme at ICE, with industry operators investing more than ever before to facilitate consumer protection in the background of a growing wave of regulatory policy. Increased governmental influence will play a huge part in technology investment for operators in 2023 as industry leaders transition into the next phase of regulatory frameworks in their regions. Major players in the sector are set to make record investment in cross border platform technology, with key focuses on the following areas to achieve this:

  • How to create an international business model which is sustainable;
  • Organic growth versus the acquiring model; and
  • Optimising a tech stack to operate on a global scale.

Better data, better player personalisation

As we all know, the iGaming sector is hyper competitive. Data strategy is now considered the game changer when it comes to establishing an edge in customer retention. Developing enhanced data collection methods within platforms is increasingly one of the highest strategic priorities for industry players. Providing seamless registration, deposit and withdrawal journeys to personalised content and highly innovative, multi-layered gameplay is now a must for any innovation strategy.

Sessions at ICE will explore the following key areas in developing a data strategy to:

  • Facilitate enhanced engagement tools;
  • Personalised content, marketing and rewards; and
  • Establishing a deeper insight into spending power and playing patterns.
