Netstream is a Swiss company founded in 1998, that delivers Cloud, Connectivity, Voice, Hosting and Streaming services to business and private customers.
In 2004, Netstream launched the first Web-Live-TV Streaming platform of Switzerland (ADSL.TV). Already having the website with streaming channels, set-top boxes, and mobile apps, Netstream now aimed at creating a high-performance Apple TV application that would provide the same content but on a subscription basis.
The Ciklum team studied the behavioural patterns of the audience, considering all the technical limitations that might appear along the way and adding the features that would make this application outstanding among other similar applications.
The team made an extensive research of the Apple TV design guidelines, target audience preferences, competitors’ products inspection and industry-specific technical aspects.
On the design side, the team figured out that the only way to ensure high app performance was to use mostly native patterns and to align the actions of the Home/Menu buttons with the swiping, clicking and tapping gestures to which Apple TV users are accustomed.
The software development cycle was organised in such a way that every 2 weeks Ciklum team rolled out a workable artefact.
The team’s efforts resulted in the fully functional new Netstream app with a fresh design, rich in subtle and feature animations. The Apple TV app was built in 4 months with TV Guide, Quick Zapper and Playlist Recordings features. The consequent result helped Netstream retain the existing customers along with contributing to their loyalty and attract a significant number of new customers.
